Have you been wondering how to boost your confidence in your calling? Maybe you’re scared to embrace your calling because of what others might think or uncertain that you’ve even truly found your calling. You’re not alone.
Achieving confidence in your calling is possible when you make God the center, surround yourself with life giving community, and practice, practice, practice!
Make God the Center
This is unequivocally the most important component of confidence in your calling. If God’s will isn’t at the center of your calling it will be nearly impossible to feel confident.
God is the creator of your calling, the giver of your gifts. Apart from Him your passions and pursuits won’t reach their full potential. God is the ultimate source of security and the only true source of unshakable confidence.
For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth.
Psalm 71:5
If you want to know whether you’re in line with God’s will for your life you can ask two questions.
1. Does the thing I feel called to do glorify God?
Today, more than ever, it has become easy to pursue fame and glory in the name of Jesus. Our calling can get confused with the number of followers, likes and other forms of social status. Ultimately, if the goodness of God shines through the work that you do, you are living a life worthy of your calling, my friend
2. Does my calling benefit others?
We often fall prey to the idea that our calling should make us happy, gross a bunch of money, and bring us fame. In reality, we might never see a dime from our calling, but if lives are impacted positively for Christ through the work you are doing you will achieve a reward far greater than money fame or accolades.
Community
With God at the center of your calling you’re almost there. Community is another key aspect of confidence in your calling.
I wish I had known sooner how essential community is. I used to look at other women with passions similar to mine and wonder how their launches were so successful, how they grew their followings and got such a positive response toward the work they were doing.
All this wondering from a girl who couldn’t even confidently talk about her dreams and goals with trusted friends. When I began to build trust with a group of women in my local community everything changed.
Suddenly there were women in my life besides family members that were enthusiastic and supportive of my ambitions. With a tribe of women who I could call, text, and run to in times of crisis by my side my passion projects blossomed into projects I took pride in. Projects that I could be confident in.
Safe community is so key for your confidence. Having loyal confidants to encourage, provide honest feedback, and share the load of your burdens is an essential ingredient in the for confidence.
If you’ve been yearning for the kind of community that can boost your confidence here’s how to get started…
Define your goal
Knowing what you’re specifically hoping to get out of a community group is key. Do you need a support group? A place to support your business?
Take a moment to craft your goal. Example: I want a group that will support me in my calling and help me build my confidence through encouragement, feedback, and collaboration.
Research groups
You could join a Bible study, a business mastermind, or group coaching. Do your research and find groups that align with your goals and availability.
Research groups on Facebook, reach out to friends you already know and start your own group, or contact a life coach for more information on their group offerings.

Practice, Practice, Practice
God’s at the center, you’ve got community you can rely on, it’s time to practice!
Sustaining confidence in your calling will require loads of practice. Practice doing scary things. Practice refining your craft, and practice putting yourself out there!
Fear of the unknown undermines our confidence and convinces us that we are inadequate. This fear can only be squelched by continually doing scary things. Identify I few things that you know would help you chase your calling but scare you.
Make it a point to start practicing these things. Start in the comfort of your home. Then share these scary things with close, trusted friends and family. Finally, practice doing the things that scare you in front of strangers.
Make the cold calls, take the speaking engagements, announce the project on social media. Practice. Start small and push yourself to do scary things. This is how confidence is built. Identifying the unknowns and taking measures to master them.
